About Us
TruEnergy Trust has been established to help all Huddle and TruEnergy customers facing financial hardship and fuel poverty. We are an independent charitable trust, funded by TruEnergy and Huddle Utilities, with the aim of alleviating the impact of the energy crisis and COVID-19 pandemic.
How We Can Help
We provide advice and support on navigating energy costs, reducing consumption and understanding your bill. Using industry knowledge and expertise we will create bespoke reports and personalised strategies to help you tackle your bills.
Am I Eligible?
You can apply to the Trust if you are in need or are experiencing hardship which means you are unable to meet or pay your gas and electricity bills.
- Only the Account Holder can apply
- Only customers who are supplied by TruEnergy can apply
- You must live in either England, Scotland or Wales to apply
If you are not eligible for financial assistance, you will still receive advice and support on your energy usage.
What will I need to provide?
- Contact information and preferences
- Up to date meter readings
- A short summary outlining any difficulties that have affected your ability to meet or keep up with payments
- Evidence of your household income including any benefits
You must also have shown willingness to pay your ongoing energy bills and you may be asked to provide further supporting evidence.
How we deal with your application
- You may receive letters, emails, telephones calls or a home visit as part of our assessment process.
- If we think that other organisations may be of interest to you, we may provide you with information about their work or share your details with them so they can contact you about their services
- You will receive a detailed report about your tariff, usage, energy forecast,budgeting and energy saving tips
- If we are able to help you with financial assistance, any credit will be made directly to your bills
Our Grants
The Trust will award financial assistance to those in greatest need. If you are concerned about upcoming gas and electricity bills or are currently in debt on your account, you may be eligible for one of our grants.

The Trust’s Decision
The Trust will always inform the applicant of the action plan that is put together by our experts.
Please note that the Trust does not give particular reasons why a grant is not awarded. If a financial grant is not awarded the applicant can re-apply if their circumstances change. The decision of the Trust is final and there is no appeals procedure.
